The Bamendou Group is located in the West region, Menoua department, Penka-Michel district. It is the largest in terms of population and surface area of the four groups (Balessing, Baloum, Bansoa, Bamendou) in this district. It is limited to the North by the Balessing and Baleveng Groups, to the East by the Bansoa and Baloum Groups, to the West by the Bafou Group and to the South by the Fotemena, Fokoué and Fomopéa Groups. Bamendou has around 40,000 inhabitants locally and a diaspora of at least the same size residing mainly in other Cameroonian cities. But more and more Bamendou are settling abroad for various reasons: studies, economic, family reunification, exile The members of the ABE are part of these Bamendou who have settled in Europe.
The development of the Bamendou Group is based on the mobilization of all its sons and daughters who reside both in the village and outside the group. Within national borders, there is, in most of Cameroon's large cities, an Association for the Development of Bamendou (ADEBAM). It seems natural that Bamendou nationals who are outside national borders form one or more associations in order to contribute, at their level, to village development. It is in this initial spirit that we launched the Bamendou d'Europe association in 2010
For more than 10 years, the ABE has contributed to the realization of several projects in the following areas:
- Education: construction of two classrooms in one of the colleges; renovation of classrooms in the village's primary schools; distribution of scholarships to the best pupils and students of the group.
- Health: Organization of a medical campaign during the annual village congress.
- Humanitarian support: financial contribution to help the victims of a landslide which caused around thirty deaths in the village.
